MBABANE – Green Mamba Coach Ernest Mavuso expressed his belief that the team would be making a mistake if they were to fire him, due to their recent poor results.

Mavuso attributed the team’s struggles to fatigue, caused by consecutive games since the start of the TotalEnergies Champions League last year. Despite the team’s poor performance, Mavuso stated that he was not afraid of losing his job and believed that he was not the problem, but rather it was fatigue. The Correctional side has lost two league games and drawn one in the opening of the second round, extending their poor run from late last year. Mavuso acknowledged that the lack of victories was affecting the players mentally, especially since they have not scored a single goal in the league since the start of the year.

However, he expressed confidence that the team would turn the corner in their upcoming match against Nsingizini Hotspurs in the quarter-finals of the Ingwenyama Cup. The team’s Chairperson Puma Zwane assured that Mavuso’s job was safe and that they had no intention of firing him. Zwane expressed their belief in Mavuso and stated that they did not want to interfere with his management of the team during this challenging phase. Despite the team’s winless streak, Zwane remained positive and believed that they could still defend the league title.
He emphasised their full support of Mavuso and their confidence that the team would bounce back.
