MBABANE - Mbabane Swallows have announced the contract extensions of sought-after players Ayanda ‘Gandaganda’ Gadlela and Siyabonga ‘Gusheshe’ Zwane.

Our sister newspaper, the Eswatini News, reported last week that both players were reportedly linked to Green Mamba, but the team was able to extend their stay. The extension of the attacking players was confirmed by Umkhonto KaShaka on Wednesday night. The announcement was met with enthusiasm from fans and followers who were eager to see the players continue their successful tenure with the team. Mbabane Swallows is proud to announce successful contract negotiations with Ayanda Gadlela and Siyabonga Zwane. We are excited to have officially secured the two players’ commitment to the club for the foreseeable future,” reads the team’s statement.

Committment

“In celebrating the extension of the two players’ contracts, the club showed commitment to its goal of facilitating transition and the revitalisation of the side from its previous excellent squad by injecting youthful, exciting and committed players into the squad, in order to ensure progress towards the goal of excellence we aim to achieve. “Ayanda and Siyabonga are undoubtedly two of the best in the league’s current crop of youthful players and are perfect examples of the club’s future-oriented vision, having remained with the club and gained experience with it through turbulent times,” further reads part of the statement. Meanwhile, sources close to the team have revealed that both players have signed two-year contract extensions that will expire at the end of the 2025/26 MTN Premier League season.

Happiness

Swallows player Zwane expressed his happiness about extending his contract with the club. “I’m delighted to continue playing for Mbabane Swallows, which is undoubtedly one of the biggest and most successful teams in the country. My aim is to continue performing at a high level and contribute to the team’s success in the league as well as help the team win the prestigious Ingwenyama Cup,” he said. Swallows, under the tutelage of Caleb ‘No Nonsense’ Ngwenya, are set to face off against Nsingizini Hotspurs on Sunday at the King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium. This MTN Premier League match is scheduled to kick off at 2:30pm.
