MBABANE – Pacesetters!

This is the story of Social and Recreation Games Eswatini (SARGE), which is leading the way in as far as getting sponsors is concerned. The association was able to get sponsorship for their games, which were played across the country in the 2023 season. Through their President Nathi Dlamini, SARGE was able to convince 10 companies to come on board in the games of Eswatini football legends. It is worth mentioning that SARGE, through partnering with these companies made E410 000 towards sponsoring the games. The leading company which pumped more money was Instacash, which sponsored with an amount of in E200 000. This tournament was won by KaShali Social Team.

Dlamini was quizzed on how he got sponsors during the post-COVID-19 era, as most companies were still finding their footing back to business. He said it was not a miracle, but it all boiled down to good negotiations skills. “Most of the companies need to know how they would benefit from sponsoring us and we have to convince them that they would get a good mileage as most of the players, where working for corporate companies,” Dlamini explained. SARGE’s good record in luring sponsors comes at a time when the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) was struggling to get sponsors. It is worth mentioning that the PLE was able to re-engage Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accidents Fund (SMVAF), who are the sponsors of the Ingwenyama Cup, while their lost the Fintech MoMo Cup.
