CHAOTIC CLASH!
NHLANGANO – Drama!
The word best describes the MTN Premier League match between Nsingizini Hotspurs and Mbabane Swallows, which ended in 1-all draw here yesterday. This drama saw the game being stopped for almost 10 minutes as officials and players engaged in a fierce fight. This happened after Nsingizini Hotspurs defender Meshack Lushaba tackled Kwakhe Tfwala. The players confronted each other and they eventually head-butted each other. The head-butting saw technical benches, players and officials engaging in a fierce fight. This commotion lasted for almost 10 minutes and at the end, Tfwala and Lushaba were given marching orders by referee Thulani ‘Goje’ Sibandze.
skirmish
Nsingizini Coach Alexio Sigion, who was caught up in the skirmish later went on to clarify that he never assaulted a player but only helped in restoring order. This was during a post-match interview. Coming back to the game, Insingizi Yezulu denied the opposition the top spot, as they drew 1-1 in the dramatic and physical match watched by close to 500 spectators in the iconic venue. It was the visitors who broke the deadlock just eight minutes into the game. Former Mbabane Highlanders exciting winger Tony ‘Ben 10’ Macacha found Ayanda ‘Gandaganda’ Gadlela with a clever pass. The latter did not waste time as he let fly a scorcher which was too hot for Sibusiso ‘Baraba’ Dlamini to handle.
Sandanezwe Mathabela was called to action five minutes before the hour mark, when Thubelihle Mavuso danced his way into the box to deliver a low cross, which ended in the arms of the former national team goalkeeper. The teams continued pressing each other and this resulted in the host being awarded an indirect kick, which they failed to utilise in the box. Ben 10 could not believe his eyes, when his well taken shot outside the box was tipped for a fruitless corner at the stroke of half-time. They went for a breather with Swallows enjoying the 1-0 lead.
introduced
Upon the start of the last 45 minutes, Swallows Coach Caleb Ngwenya introduced Siyabonga ‘Gusheshe’ Zwane and Leon ‘Schuster’ Manyisa for Ben 10 and Sizolwethu ‘Nunu’ Shabalala. His counterpart Alexio Segion introduced Neliso Myeni for Nyasa Chintuli. It seemed the right tonic for him as he levelled matters 10 minutes before regulation time. He connected brilliantly with a searching cross from Alvin Shabashie to beat Mathabela with a powerful header. As the game approached the dying minutes, the commotion erupted and after it had calmed Sibandze added five minutes. Nothing could separate the teams as they went on to share a point apiece. The result had no impact on the log standing as both sides maintained their positions.
