MBABANE - A breath of fresh air is sweeping through the Eswatini Hockey Association (EHA) Board, following a planned tour to Johannesburg, South Africa.

The new board’s unwavering commitment, dedication and clear vision are setting the stage for a promising future for Eswatini’s hockey players, with the Under-17s tour for both boys and girls to Heronbridge, Johannesburg, late next month, serving as a pivotal moment for the young talents.
A reliable source within the association revealed that the commencement of the season has been marked by the fervent participation of the young guns, who are eagerly gearing up for the tour.

“The bright start to the season has been marked by keen interest and participation from the players as they ready themselves for the upcoming tour to Johannesburg,” revealed the source. The youngsters lace up their boots and continue to prepare at the training camp, which started two weeks ago. This is according to the EHA Head of Development Tinavo Mushavi.

The youngsters will be under the guidance of seasoned coaches Luckson Sikisa, who received a national team call-up in his home country, Zimbabwe in November, and Mhlengi Fakudze. When asked about the dates for departure, the head of development cited that they were still working on the logistics. “We have started the training camp.  It’s been going on for two weeks now. In terms of departure, we are still working on that, we haven’t confirmed as of yet but the tour should start on March 18,” said Mushavi.

Determination

Meanwhile, inspired by the remarkable achievements of the previous board, the current leadership is resolute in their determination to propel the sport to new heights. The Under-17 tour to Heronbridge, Johannesburg, symbolises not only an opportunity for the young players to showcase their skills on an international stage, but also a testament to Eswatini hockey’s unwavering commitment to growth, advancement and fervent dedication.
