E25 000 FOR MHLUME MP KO
TAMBANKULU – The inaugural Mhlume Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Sifiso Magagula’s Knockout tournament kicked off last weekend with nine teams battling it out for the lucrative prizes.
The North West Zone tournament is sponsored to the tune of E25 000 by the Mhlume legislator. Brave Lions were the biggest winners, as they ran amok to humiliate Young Killers 6-1 in a one-sided encounter, played at Tambankulu Stadium on Saturday. This was the first match of the Group B double header as Young Stars beat Mhlume Professionals 2-1 in the second match.
Meanwhile, under group A, Tambankulu beat Rio Academy 5-2 in a match played at Mhlume Stadium on Sunday. This was before another interesting clash between Mhlume Community and Motivators, which was won by the former with a 3-2 score line.
The tournament began in round robin format, whereby, the teams campaigning under the RES Siyakha 1800 North West League are grouped into two - Group A and B. The two topping teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals. Winners of the inaugural Mhlume Member of Parliament (MP) Sifiso Magagula North West Zone Knockout tournament will walk away with a sum of E7 000 first prize money. According to the prize breakdown, the runners-up will get E5 000, while third place finishers are set to take home E3 000. Worth noting is that there are also prizes for individuals, with the player of the tournament, best coach and top goal shooter guaranteed E700.
