DOMINIC’S ASSISTANTS’ CONTRACTS EXPIRE
MBABANE – The national team Sihlangu is without a technical bench after their contracts elapsed about four days ago.
The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) recently engaged MTN Premier League and 2023 PLE Trade Fair Cup reigning champions Green Mamba Head Coach Ernest Mavuso and former Royal Leopard award-winning Gaffer Sifiso ‘Nuro’ Ntibane, as well as Ingwe Mabalabala Physical Trainer Dennis ‘Denmark’ Fakudze to assist outgoing Head Coach Dominic Kunene. The trio’s assignment was the two-legged 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations preliminary round against Somalia, which Eswatini won on 5-2 aggregate.
The result saw Sihlangu reaching the group stages of the continental football showpiece to be hosted by Morocco next year. A source close to the local football mother body revealed that currently the Sifiso ‘Ayoba’ Matse-captained squad did not have a technical bench, as their contracts expired. “The assistants and the fitness trainer were given a two-month long contract. “What I have gathered is that it has expired on the last day of March,” the source said. The source went on to disclose that the EFA Technical Committee was yet to re-engage the coaches and was expected to forward Kunene’s report to EFA.

It is worth mentioning that the former Young Buffaloes coach’s contract with EFA expired on March 31, 2024.
On the other hand, EFA President Peter ‘Samora’ Simelane was recently quoted by this publication saying the issue of Kunene will be addressed after the EFA technical committee forwarded the report on his performance during his time with Sihlangu.Meanwhile, EFA Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi ‘Rhoo’ Radebe could not be reached for comments as his phone rang unanswered by the time this report was compiled.
