BARBOSA CLASSIC TO FEATURE MORE SADC ATHLETES
MBABANE – Go big or go home!
This adage holds true for Eswatini’s most prolific bodybuilder Arnaldo Barbosa. The latter shared his excitement about the direction the Barbosa Classic was taking ahead of the eighth edition set for October 26-27, 2024. Barbosa revealed their marketing plan with sponsor 8Bet as well as the Barbosa Classic, which now entails E30 000 as the cash prize. Worth noting is that the prize money was increased by E20 000 as the seventh edition had E10 000 as the cash prize. He went on to highlight more on having Southern African Development Community (SADC) athletes part of the event as a mandate to expose the Barbosa Classic and 8Bet on the African continent.
Barbosa, however, mentioned that this was not to say athletes from other continents were not invited as they were open to all athletes across the globe. “We need to alert all the athletes in the SADC countries. Our aim is to make the event bigger and better and we have already started speaking to the likes of South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) for possible broadcast during the upcoming Barbosa Classic. The dates have been set for the eighth edition, but we are still finalising the venue,” he said.
