G. MAMBA EARNINGS UP TO E1.8M
MBABANE - This season, Green Mamba’s earnings have soared to E1.8 million, according to combined figures.
Their first earnings of the season came from the Trade Fair Cup, where they triumphed over Mbabane Swallows with a 6-0 victory, earning them the E300 000 first prize. This tournament took place in September last year. Ernest Mavuso’s troops went on to finish in the top spot in the MTN Premier League’s first round, ahead of Young Buffaloes. This achievement earned them the E100 000 first-round prize. Their most substantial prize money came from the Ingwenyama Cup final, where they defeated Swallows 1-0 this past Sunday to claim the E1.4 million first prize money. They were the defending champions of this trophy, having won in 2020 against Mbabane Highlanders. This brings Mamba’s total earnings to E1.8 million so far in the 2023/24 campaign.
Amassing
Despite winning only one of four finals, Swallows have made reasonable earnings this season, amassing E1.1 million in four tournaments. They won the Hospice At Home Charity Cup, taking home E100 000, last August. They also reached the finals of the MoMo Cup, the Trade Fair Cup and Ingwenyama Cup, earning runner-up prizes of E350 000, E150 000 and E530 000, respectively. As a result, Swallows’ earnings stand at E1.1million. Green Mamba Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mandla Sibiya, expressed gratitude for the substantial earnings over the past eight months. “As a club, in order to maintain the team, you need revenue. This can be achieved through winning trophies. We are grateful to the management, technical bench, players, and supporters for contributing to our success thus far,” Sibiya said. When asked if these funds would aid them in competing in the CAF Confederation Cup, Sibiya stated that a decision was yet to be made. He expressed the club’s desire to participate in Africa and represent their country on the international stage.
