WE PRAY FOR FAIR OFFICIATING– ‘MR G’
MBABANE – “Even though we are not playing each other, we pray for good officiating to avoid commotion.”
These were the words of Manzini Wanderers Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mduduzi ‘Mr G’ Ginindza ahead of the MTN ‘Y’ello’ Saturday penned for the KaLanga Technical Centre tomorrow. The third Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Technical Centre will play host to a double-header involving the ‘Weslians’, who will be welcoming Shiselweni-based side Nsingizini Hotspurs at 1pm. Mbabane Highlanders will be visiting Madlenya in a match slated for 3pm.
Ginindza was reacting to questions posed to him by this publication on the safety of the supporters considering that they had a huge following and would play in an open ground with no stands. He said they had no choice, but to use KaLanga after they failed to get a stadium with the assistance of the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE). “I know that we will not be playing against Highlanders, but I pray that the match officials handle the matches well to avoid commotion,” Ginindza said.
He then urged their supporters to behave well during the games to avoid clashing with the fans from the other teams.
Meanwhile, his counterpart at Inkunzi Emnyama Kenneth Dlamini said even though they were concerned about the safety of the supporters, they major worry was that at KaLanga fans were exposed to all weather conditions, as there was no shelter and stands. “It is not only about safety, we feel pity for the supporters as we are not sure how the weather will be. Even it is not raining, they are exposed to extensive heat,” Dlamini said.
He then urged their supporters to behave as they knew that results were not favouring them in recent matches, but he assured them that the game against Jozi Gobana KaMadlenya would be their turning point. PLE Football Manager Pat Vilakati, on the other hand, when asked if the venue would be able to accommodate the supporters, felt it was no major concern, as the giants would not be playing against each other.
