TWO ‘BIRDS’ STARS SUSPENDED
MBABANE – Capital city giants Mbabane Swallows have suffered a huge blow ahead of their week 21 MTN Premier League match against Rangers.
The match played tomorrow at Mkhuzweni Technical Centre in Northern Hhohho. Swallows will be without their two influential players when they face off with the Shiselweni-based side at 3pm. These are the likes of Swallows versatile Kwakhe Thwala and influential defender Kingsely Kwayki who were ruled out by the MTN Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Yellow Card Rule.
“In terms of Article 37 (2) of the MTN Premier League of the 2023/24 Rules and Regulations the players are therefore automatically suspended from participating in the next two matches to be played by their teams,” reads an extract from a letter issued to one of the suspended players.
At least three other players from the Premier League will be side-lined for the upcoming games this weekend. These players have also been frozen by the MTN (PLE) Article 37 (2) of the rules and regulations. These include Moneni Pirates’ Menzi ‘Magawugawu’ Simelane, Vusumuzi Vilakati from Mbabane Highlanders and Denver Sundowns’Siphamandla Maseko. Kwayki and ‘Magawugawu’ will serve a two-match ban following the accumulation of six yellow cards since the start of the season.
Meanwhile, five other teams from the National First Division (NFD) will be without their key players in the upcoming matches as they have also been ruled out by the MTN PLE Article 37(2) and Article 37 (1). Players suspended by the MTN PLE Article 37 (2) include Ntokozo Dlamini from Seven Dreams, Mbongiseni Dlamini from Peak’s Peak Rangers and Senzo Dlamini from Malanti Chiefs. The other four players ruled out by Article 37 (1) will only miss one next match to be played by their team, as they have only accumulated three yellow cards.
