TIMES OF ESWATINI EAGER TO WIN 1ST SARGE TROPHY

MBABANE – “We are eager to win our first SARGE trophy.”

These were the words of the Times of Eswatini Social Soccer Team Captain Makhosonkhe ‘Khora’ Mkhonta ahead of the 2024 Lubombo Region Social and Recreational Football Charity Cup. The games which are under the Social and Recreational Games Eswatini (SARGE) have been penned for the Simunye Sugar Estate village today.

The Last 32 games, which feature social teams across the country were initially billed for the Ubombo Sugar Limited, but they were switched to Simunye due to a company event. The other reason the SARGE president highlighted for the change of venue was that next the Mayaluka Stadium will play host to the MTN Premier League match between Illovo and Mbabane Swallows next weekend.

The Times of Eswatini Social Team skipper, Khora, said they were looking forward to winning their maiden trophy under SARGE as the last time their laid their hands on a silverware was in the Masoso Cup. “We are eager to win our first SARGE trophy and the boys are all ready for the games,” the former now defunct Mhlambanyatsi Rovers goalkeeper said. The publication’s team has been pitted in Group H against the likes of Mpaka, Nkonyeni Pre-cast and Palfridge. This group will their games at the Lusoti Car Wash Sports Ground.

Meanwhile, The Lubombo Region Social and Recreational Football Charity Cup defending champions Nyakeni Manager Alfred ‘Shakes’ Zwane said they were looking forward to once again winning the tournament. “There is no way that we are not going to defend the title, we have intensified our preparations,” Zwane said. SARGE President Nathi Dlamini said they were looking forward to exciting social games as most of the clubs vowed to take away the E4 000 main prize.
