‘BULL’ KINGMAKERS IN ‘Y’ELLO’ TITLE RACE
MBABANE – Capital city giants Mbabane Highlanders hold a key role in the MTN Premier League title race, with only five games left in the season.
The Milton ‘Dlamini-led side secured a much-needed victory against Madlenya FC with a decisive header from defender Thami Zulu in the second half at KaLanga Technical Centre. The win came after a series of setbacks for the team, having failed to secure a win in their previous four league games. Notably, the win against the Lubombo based side also marked the former Denver Sundowns coach’s first win since his debut, which ended in a 1-2 loss against Nsingizini Hotspurs just two weeks prior.
Currently positioned at number five in the league standings, Inkunzi Emnyama are set to face some strong competitors in the upcoming matches for the league race, starting with Young Buffaloes this weekend. Other opponents include current log leaders Mbabane Swallows and second-placed Green Mamba. Royal Leopard and dark horses Nsingizini Hotspurs are the only competing teams that the black and white outfit will not face in their remaining crucial matches. Highlanders’ games during the first round included a goalless draw with Amathole Ezinyathi; a 1-1 draw against their traditional rivals; and a 0-3 defeat at the hands of Inyoka Eluhlazane.

The team’s Head Coach, Dlamini, shared with the publication yesterday that their last five league matches would be particularly challenging, as they faced some of the strongest teams in the league that are all vying for the championship title. “I’m excited about our remaining games. While we recognise the competition will be fierce, we are determined to do our best and win as many matches as possible. We are not concerned about other teams’ results, as we know that mathematically, we are still in the race. We will give our all to achieve the best possible finish this season,” he said.
