PLE’S PAT EXPRESSES GRATITUDE FOR MTN LEAGUE’S SPONSORSHIP
MBABANE – The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Football Manager Pat Vilakati has said there is no football conversations in the country if it was not for MTN Eswatini sponsorship.
The mobile communications giant forked out E19.5 million for the Premier League and National First Division (NFD) leagues for a period of three seasons, with each season worth E6.5 million. Vilakati expressed PLE’s gratitude during the Player of the Month award ceremony held two days ago at the MTN Headquarters in Ezulwini.
“We are proud of you, and without you, there would be no football conversations in the country. We really appreciate these incentives because they motivate players to perform their best and make the league highly competitive,” said Vilakati.
Incentives
He further thanked MTN for creating additional opportunities for players to earn incentives within the league. Beyond the MTN Player of the Month and end-of-season individual awards, he mentioned the introduction of MTN ‘Y’ello Man of the Match awards, where outstanding players earn E1 000.
Vilakati emphasised that winning the Player of the Month award is not a given. The football manager said it requires players to play a pivotal role for their teams and maintain discipline to be considered for the E6 000 incentive in the top-tier league and E2 000 in the National First Division (NFD). Meanwhile, MTN Representative Thulani Nhlabatsi stressed the importance of proper conduct among players. Nhlabatsi said they would not want to present the award to an individual associated with ill behaviour.
