MBABANE – The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) has let the cat out of the bag why the kasi to kasi football spectacles scheduled for tomorrow at Msunduza Sports Ground were postponed indefinitely.

According to the PLE press statement released by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kenneth Makhanya, the organisation has noted with great concern some adverts circulating on social media promoting an event dubbed ‘The Kasi Dance.’ The PLE executive committee (Exco) said the adverts contained pictures of professional players licensed to play under the auspices of the organisation.

“The PLE member clubs are urged to prevail on their registered players to refrain from participating in this or similar events that are neither organised nor approved by either the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) or the PLE,” the Exco said yesterday. The CEO further said professional players were prohibited from engaging in any tournament if they were not playing for the team they were contracted with.

“Members of the public, in particular, the organisers of stokvel soccer tournaments are also hereby warned to cease and desist from using official PLE logos, emblems, pictures, videos and any digital content without the written permission from the PLE,’’ the press further said.

However, the kasi football last year during the off-season made headlines with tournaments even sponsored. Msunduza XI won it and tomorrow were set to face off with Ludzeludze. This game was then yesterday announced to be indefinitely postponed before the PLE press statement.
