MBABANE – He will strike it rich!

This is the story of former Ezulwini United gaffer Ikabort Masocha, who disclosed that he had been afford a lucrative monthly salary at his new club, Harare City Football Club. The Zimbabwean-born coach recently left the country to join the ‘Sunshine Boys’, as the Harare-based outfit are affectionately known in Zimbabwean football circles.  This was after he did not renew his short-term contract with Ezulwini United, who engaged him to help the Mphumelelo Ngwenya-led technical bench survive the dreaded relegation axe. Masocha, after helping United to maintain their Premier League status, left the country for Zimbabwe.

The former Manzini Wanderers mentor was quoted by this publication confirming having signed a six-month contract with the option to extend after it has expired. He revealed that the ‘Sunshine Boys’ management mandated him to claim the Holy Grail of Zimbabwean football as the team was currently occupying the second spot on the log. “Even though the issue of how much I will earn here is confidential, the team has promised me a E20 000 monthly salary,” Masocha said.

Better

The erstwhile Denver Sundowns coach disclosed that this salary was much better than what he was earning at the clubs he had worked with in the country. “Even though the salaries back in Eswatini were not that much, I will always be grateful to all the teams that I have coached there and I am hopeful that one day I will return as I now consider Eswatini my second home,” he said. Masocha further disclosed that it was his wish to sign two local players for Harare City, but was currently checking on how the Zimbabwean work permits were processed.
