MBABANE – Former Mbabane Swallows striker Mohammed Anas has returned to the country with the intention of rejoining the Mbabane giants for the upcoming season.

The well-travelled Ghanaian forward has previously played in the Middle East for several clubs, including Al-Wahda SC in Syria, Al-Wehdat SC in Jordan, and Sahab SC, where he was loaned from Al-Wehdat SC. He also played for DStv Premiership club TS Galaxy during the 2021/22 season before departing for the Middle East. Anas departed from Mbabane Swallows during the 2016/17 MTN Premier League season to join South Africa’s Free State Stars, where he remained for four years in South Africa playing for different clubs in the DStv Premiership. The striker gained considerable experience in the lucrative South African league before eventually moving to play in the Middle East.

Training

Sources close to the Mbabane Swallows camp shared with the publication that Anas began training with the team on Thursday afternoon, under the supervision of the technical staff led by head coach Caleb ‘ No Nonsense’ Ngwenya. The striker, who formerly played for the ‘Rockets’, as TS Galaxy are fondly known, is reportedly being considered as one of the potential players who could assist the team in the upcoming season, which includes its participation in the CAF Champions League. “I can confirm that we are enthusiastic about the potential signing of Mohammed Anas,” the source said.

He is a well-known player with a proven track record, having played for the team twice before. Although many players are still absent from training due to commitments with the national team, we are confident about the team’s performance and are hopeful that Mohammed will be a valuable addition to our squad,” the source said.Meanwhile, when asked about the return of  Anas to Eswatini and his subsequent training with Mbabane Swallows, the team’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Knowledge Ngwenya, stated that he was not aware of the player’s presence in the country or his involvement with the team’s training sessions.

“To clarify, I have not personally attended recent team training sessions, which might be why I am unaware of Mohammed Anas’ presence at the club. As such, I am unable to verify or refute the reported developments regarding his potential involvement with Mbabane Swallows,” he said.  Anas could not be drawn for comment after his cellphone rang unanswered when called yesterday.
