MBABANE – Revealed!

The national team Sihlangu, which is currently in camp preparing for the 2024 Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Cup, will be captained by Mbabane Swallows versatile player Kwakhe Thwala. The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) recently announced changes in the Sihlangu technical bench, engaging Sifiso ‘Nuro’ Ntibane to lead the squad in the regional flagship football tournament billed for the Eastern Cape this month. The tournament will run between June 26 and July 7, this year.

The former Royal Leopard award-winning gaffer was mandated to select a youthful squad for the annual competition. He announced the team, last Thursday. Ntibane announced a 24-member team, which was without experienced players who included Skipper Sifiso ‘Ayoba’ Matse. Ntibane when quizzed about who would lead the youthful squad, said he would be in a position to announce the skipper once the team was in camp. It is worth mentioning that the squad went into full-time camp last Friday.

“Kwakhe is the new captain for Sihlangu,” the source said.Nuro, on the other hand, eventually confirmed that they have selected the Sihlangu skipper. Meanwhile, the source further revealed that Physical Trainer Dennis ‘Denmark’ Fakudze was back with the squad after his short-term contract expired alongside that of the other coaches.
