LNOC PRESIDENT PARTICIPATES IN 2024 OLYMPIC DAY

MBABANE – President Tlali Ramaphosa and CEO Morare Raleara of Lesotho National Olympic Committee (LNOC) graced the Olympic Day with participants at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground yesterday.

Olympic Day is basically an event to promote the Olympic movement. It is celebrated every year in the month of June by national olympic committees in the 206 countries across five
The ultimate event is not for adults or skilled athletes only, but it also accommodates persons of all ages who may be interested to take part in the different sport activities either.
The children came in numbers from different schools in the country for this year’s Olympic Day. Prime Bakery, Eswatini Athletics, Destiny Music, Municipal of Mbabane and Pick n Pay also engaged in this event to give support.

There were numerous sports associations that pulled up for this event. They include Eswatini Swimming Association, Karate, Eswatini Tennis Association, Eswatini Boxing Association, Eswatini Athletics, attended the event to show support and provide the children with more games to engage in. There were also obstacle games that came from the other wing, which is the OlympAfrica Centre, thus making the event have a handful of games.

The President of Lesotho National Olympic Committee Tlali Ramaphosa said that he was happy to attend such a well-organised event. “It is a wonderful thing to see children being brought together because being brought together and play is one of the main things for children development, to the children who are disabled we are very happy to see them too as we are all humans,” Ramaphosa added. The CEO of Lesotho National Olympic Committee added more saying “Olympic Day is a globally celebrated day by the Olympic Movement, whereby we celebrate the power of sports and ensure that everyone is included. There are three pillars that have been adopted on this day which include move and learn.” Ramaphosa said.
The Marketing Officer Mkhululi Dlamini of EOCGA said that the event went well as the children came in numbers and was grateful towards Municipality of Mbabane for partnering with them.

“We are indeed honoured for the attendance of the President and CEO of Lesotho National Committee they were actually on their way out of the country but they were able to partake this event,” Dlamini added.
