TOP GLOBAL RATING FOR MTN/PLE PARTNERSHIP

MBABANE – The beautiful relationship between Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) and its sponsor MTN, has got an international recognition. It is said to be in the top four longest running football sponsorships in the whole world.

This was revealed by PLE Chairman Mark Carmichael when he delivered his speech at the MTN PLE awards ceremony held at Royal Villas in Ezulwini, two days back. “Our relationship with MTN is now a full 21 years old, making it into the top four longest running football sponsorships in the whole world. May I express the PLE’s sincere appreciation and gratitude to MTN for their steadfast support and continued sponsorship of our Premier and National First Division Leagues since 2003,” he said.

The MTN/PLE sponsorship years surpasses Italy top flight league outstanding team Napoli, with 19 years. Leading the global charts with having the longest serving sponsors are Germany top tier league’s Wolfsburg in Volkswagen. They have been part of the fabric of Wolfsburg as a club since 1991, when they took over. Carmichael further lauded the performance of teams in the recently-ended campaign.

“I am very happy and proud that the PLE has successfully completed the 2023/24 MTN Premier and National First Division leagues. On September 14, 2022, we launched a new three-year MTN sponsorship. We congratulate Mbabane Swallows, our Premier League champions and Seven Dreams, the National First Division title-holders, for their achievements. I also congratulate the individual winners, whose personal performances were a cut above the other competitors in the leagues,” he said.
