MKHUZWENI – It is now theirs!

This is the Homecoming trophy, as Mhlume Legends claimed it for the third time after beating Simunye counterparts 6-1, in an entertaining match played there yesterday. The Mhlume Legends, spearheaded by former Mbabane Highlanders skilful midfield, maestro Khayelihle ‘Karas’ Dlamini, officially kept the trophy as they now won it for the third time in a row, since the competition was introduced. The Homecoming, which was sponsored by Siphambanweni Milling to the tune of E30 000 was initially penned for the Goshe Szokolay Stadium in Simunye. It was switched to Mhlume Country Club, but was later moved to the fourth Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Technical Centre, Mkhuzweni.

It was Mhlume that broke the deadlock a minute before the half-hour mark, through Giya Thubhatha. He received a clever pass from the ever-green Mgabe Makama and pulled the trigger, giving goalkeeper Bongi Dlamini no choice between the sticks. Former Mbabane Highlanders and Young Buffaloes defender Mpendulo ‘Biano’ Kunene tried a long range shot outside the box, which narrowly missed the target. Mhlume goal scorer Giya was rested for Menzi ‘Flying Ghost’ Sibiya.

He received a good pass from former teammate Karas, to slice the ball behind the advancing goalkeeper. The score at half-time was 2-0.
