ESRC INTRODUCES POOL IN ALL SCHOOLS, TOURNEY ‘CUEING’
MBABANE – It is good news for the local pool community.
Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council (ESRC) has introduced the pool sport in schools across the nation. This follows a meeting held at Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT) centre in Manzini, last Friday. ESRC, in partnership with Eswatini Schools Sports Association (ESSA), successfully launched the initiative, which aims to foster interest and talent in cue sports among pupils in schools. Eswatini Cue Sports Association (ECSA) President Muntu Dlamini, expressed his excitement about this new move and mentioned that their aim was to introduce the sport at grassroots level.
‘’Our plan is to kick-start the whole exercise and sensitise the rest by hosting an inaugural school pool tournament before the end of the year; this will remove the wrong perception about the sport. This is often mistaken as a sport for bars,” Dlamini said. All the schools across the four regions in the country that are registered under the banner of ESSA will be allowed to participate in these games. The pool president disclosed that they would avail themselves and assist the schools to buy tables. Meanwhile, ESSA secretary, Felicity Dlamini confirmed the collaboration between the three associations, which will not only benefit the pupils, but grow the sport in the country.
