MBABANE – The cruel hands of death have struck football again.

Manzini Wanderers’ popular fan Mnotfo Manana was tragically knocked down by a car on Tuesday night around Jubela, Ngculwini, in Manzini. Wanderers Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Diana ‘Girlie’ Johnson, confirmed learning about the tragic news from a close relative. “Mnotfo was on his way to Manzini from Ngculwini at around 9pm to 10pm where he was hit by a car. May his soul rest in peace,” she said.

A brother of the deceased, Ray Manana, when called yesterday, confirmed the news. “It is true that my brother is late but more details will be released by the elders of the family,” Manana said. The Deputy Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Assistant Superintendent Nosipho Mnguni confirmed the death of a man who was knocked down by a car at Ngculwini. Social media, especially Facebook, was abuzz, with heartbroken fans expressing their grief. Mnotfo was always cheerful and those around him struggled to maintain a straight face as he was a joy to be around.

Meanwhile, Wanderers recently lost their former Elders Chairman Sipho Ntshalintshali. At the beginning of the year, the maroon and white outfit’s defender Kwanele Dlamini suddenly collapsed during a stokvel (festive) tournament in Lavumisa and was rushed to Matsenjeni Clinic, where he tragically passed away.
