MBABANE – The national team Sihlangu’s poor performance has grabbed the attention of DStv Premiership outfit TS Galaxy owner Tim Sukazi.

Sukazi was in the country to officially launch the 2024 Mpumalanga Premier Cup, in an event which was held at the Hilton Garden Inn on Wednesday. The 2023/24 MTN Premier League champions, Mbabane Swallows, got an invite to be part of the tournament to feature TS Galaxy, Young Africans from Tanzania as well as Augsburg from the Bundesliga in Germany.
The reason the TS Galaxy Foundation to include Umkhonto KaShaka in the four-team pre-season tournament, according to Sukazi was to improve local football. In his address, he said the Caleb Ngwenya-led side was the right platform to achieve that goal.

The TS Galaxy owner said he was not happy with the level of performance exhibited by the national team Sihlangu in recent times. “I was not happy about Sihlangu performance after watching them in one of their games in Mbombela and giving Swallows the chance to play against Yanga and Augsburg will benefit the national side,” Sukazi said.

He also revealed that the tournament would avail an opportunity for the red and white capital city giants players to market themselves in the money-spinning DStv Premiership as well as globally. Scouts from Germany are expected to watch the games. “Augsburg are currently making headlines in Germany that they will be coming to South Africa,” he said.
Sukazi further said should some of the local players got the attention of foreign teams, it would enhance Sihlangu performance. It is worth mentioning that Sihlangu were booted out in the group stages of the ongoing COSAFA cup.
