MBABANE – He is still not with the team.

This is the story of Mbabane Swallows attacking midfielder Felix ‘Fela’ Badenhorst, who has reportedly not returned to the ‘Birds’ nest. The former AS Vita player missed the last few games for the 2023/24 MTN Premier League champions due to a shoulder injury. ‘Fela’ sustained the shoulder injury during the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accidents Fund (SMVAF) sponsored Ingwenyama Cup game against MTN National First Division outfit Tambankulu Celtics over three months ago.

An impeccable source close to the Caleb Ngwenya-coached side, revealed that the all-time Council of Southern African Football Association (COSAFA) top goalscorer was missing at the team. Swallows are back in pre-season in preparation of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, as they will be the country’s envoys in the supreme continental inter-clubs competition. “It’s worrying as Felix has not yet returned in the club as we are preparing for Africa,” the source said.

Missing

The source went on to share that all the players and technical bench, who were on national duty with the national team Sihlangu were back training with the team and Badenhorst was the only player missing. The red and white capital city giants’ Public Relations Officer (PRO) Knowledge ‘Bhambo’ Ngwenya confirmed that indeed, the former Jomo Cosmos player had not yet returned back to the club. “He is not yet back,” Ngwenya briefly said.

He was not sure if the player was still sidelined by the injury or personal reasons. “I am not sure; I will have to wait and see what transpires over the weekend,” he added. It is worth mentioning that Swallows will be playing in a pre-season tournament tomorrow at the Somhlolo National Stadium. The teams to feature in the tournament are Blue Cranes from South Africa, Illovo and MTN National First Division champions Seven Dreams.
