‘BULL’ REPLACE ‘WESLIANS’ IN HOSPICE AT HOME CUP
MBABANE – It never rains but pours for Manzini based outfit Wanderers as they are reportedly out of Hospice at Home Charity Cup.
The side is notable not included in this year’s edition of the charity cup, which only features Premier League clubs and they are replaced by Mbabane Highlanders, as they await their fate, in as far as their elite league status is concerned. This follows a ruling of the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Disciplinary Committee (DC) on their case against Denver Sundowns.
The maroon and white hub giants had protested against skipper Jimoh Moses after their 4-2 defeat in the grand closing of the 2023/24 MTN Premier League season in May. The games were held at the Somhlolo National Stadium. However, Wanderers challenged the ruling. A source close to the MTN NFD-bound hub giants revealed that the management through their Chairperson Berger ‘Hotline’ Nxumalo wrote to the EFA, requesting for a written reasons for the judgement.

“We request that we be furnished with written reasons no later than July 5, 2024,” reads part of the urgent letter to the EFA. As per a statement on Moneni Pirates’ official social media page Mbabane Highlanders will now replace the side in this tournament. Meanwhile, Nsingizini Hotspurs and Mbabane Swallows complete the four teams set to clash in the upcoming tournament. The tournament is scheduled for August 11, 2024. with more details to be communicated in due course.
“We wish to cordially invite our supporters to participate, as we will be visiting ka-Bhekinkosi for garden work, which belongs to Hospice at Home on July 13, 2024. We request for any donations such as seedlings or farm inputs that may assist Hospice at Home to carry out their noble initiative,” part of the statement read. Meanwhile, Hospice at Home Communications Officer Mlondi Gamedze refuted knowing the claims. “I am not aware of the participating teams as yet. There will be a launch for the tournament where teams will be finalised,” he said.
