HE IS HOT PROPERTY AS: ZESCO TABLES OVER E250K FOR ‘SIKHALI’
MBABANE – Green Mamba seasoned forward Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa is once again set to receive a lifeline.
Reports suggest that ZESCO United are looking to bolster their squad with his services, ahead of the TotalEnergies Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederation Cup. This follows the departure of their highly-rated forward Enock Jr Sakala, from the club. The Zambian giants are said to have tabled a two-year deal for the former national team Sihlangu lethal striker, with his current club.
They are also offering at least E250 000 to Inyokeluhlazane and E150 000 signing-on fee for the goal poacher who scored 20 goals winning the 2023/24 MTN Premier League Top Goalscorer award. In addition, they are said to be offering at least E30 000 monthly salary. Ba Zega, as ZESCO are fondly known, deserve no introduction, as they parade Eswatini international right-back Lindo ‘All-Trades’ Mkhonta.
The right-footed player reportedly earns over E50 000 per month, including bonuses. They are among the powerhouses in Africa. Team Ya Ziko reached the CAF Champions League semi-finals in 2016.
Bids
The player was earlier reported to be a hot property, following bids from renowned teams in Angola, Tanzania and Zambia. Two top teams from Angola styled Petro de Luanda and GD Sagrada Esperanca, are reported to be after the player. Despite an illustrious career, the 32-year-old has made one international move so far. That was back in 2019, when he joined the now defunct Mbombela United. The following year, he was slapped with a two-year ban. The former capital city giants’ striker was alleged to have signed a contract with TS Sporting, before signing and playing for Mbombela United.
Green Mamba Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mandla Sibiya, opted to keep his cards close to the chest. “ZESCO have shown an interest. However, they have not tabled an offer yet. We told them it was hard to respond yet, as Sikhali is a civil servant. “We have to engage government first before giving a response. Nevertheless, we cannot stand in any player’s way if a team tables a good offer for him. We are happy about the interest that will also benefit the country if it turns into fruition,” he said.
