MBABANE – “This is my last chance to play outside the country.”

These were the sad words by Green Mamba striker Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa, in a heart-wrenching interview with this publication yesterday afternoon, as he waits anxiously for news from his club. This publication reported yesterday that reports suggested that ZESCO United were looking to bolster their squad with his services, ahead of the TotalEnergies Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederation Cup. This follows the departure of their highly-rated forward Enock Jr Sakala, from the club. The Zambian giants are said to have tabled a two-year deal for the former national team Sihlangu lethal striker, with his current club. Ndzinisa’s desperation is noticeable, as he waits anxiously for news from his club.

“I’m overjoyed that my talent has been recognised by teams outside the country, and I consider this a fantastic opportunity. As such, I respectfully implore the Green Mamba family to grant me permission to join ZESCO United. This is likely my final chance to play outside the country, and I am hopeful that the ongoing negotiations will produce a positive outcome. I pray that the club will allow me to take this career-defining step, as it would mean the world to me,” he shared.

Family

In addition to the prestige that comes with playing abroad, ‘Sikhali’ is keenly aware of the financial implications of his potential move to ZESCO United. During the interview, Ndzinisa divulged that this transfer would be his highest-paying contract in his football career to date, enabling him to provide for his family and improve their quality of life. “As a family man and a player who’s experienced my fair share of difficulties, I view this potential move to ZESCO United as much more than just a career milestone. Not only would I have the opportunity to play for a prestigious team abroad, but the monetary benefits would help improve the quality of life for my family and me.”

Given that this transfer could be my last chance to play overseas, I’m imploring the Green Mamba family to allow me to make this life-changing step. The extra income from this contract would go a long way toward solving some of the challenges we face in our everyday lives,” he revealed. Speaking with humility, the reigning leading scorer of the 203/24 MTN Premier League, acknowledged that his departure from the team might create a void. Nevertheless, he expressed confidence that the club could find a suitable replacement for his position

Meanwhile, upon conducting further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the deadly striker potential transfer to ZESCO United, this publication discovered that the former Inkunzi Emnyama was currently in the probationary stage of his employment with Inyoka Eluhlazane, with his probationary period scheduled to end in November of this year.
A source within the security forces camp revealed that the club Chairman, Davies Zwane, was in talks with the President of Green Mamba and the His Majesty’s Correctional Services Commissioner General Phindile Dlamini.

According to the source, Dlamini was still in discussions with the human resources department within her office, as she sought to determine the possible implications of releasing the striker before the conclusion of his probationary period. “While Sikhali is eager to receive word from Green Mamba regarding his potential transfer to ZESCO United, the club is understandably cautious, given that he is still in the probationary stage of his contract,” the source shared. A decorated player with an impressive track record, Ndzinisa joined Green Mamba, a side coached by Ernest Mavuso, during the 2022/23 season, signing a three-year contract.

Before joining Green Mamba, he played for Mbabane Highlanders, where he scored an impressive 23 goals and was named the MTN Player of the Season. This was a feat he had previously achieved twice while playing for Mbabane Swallows, a rival team. The former Sihlangu marksman recently got employed as a Correctional Services officer as he was among the hundreds of other warders that passed out at Matsapha last year. Green Mamba Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mandla Sibiya could not be drawn for immediate comment at the time of compiling this report.
