GAVIN HUNT PRAISES ESWATINI’S TALENT

MBABANE – DStv Premiership side SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt has praised the football talent in Eswatini, acknowledging that the country has consistently developed exceptional players in the past.

The four-time league-winning coach was in the country on Sunday morning, attending a coaching workshop at the Lobamba Technical Centre. This exceptional opportunity for the Eswatini Football Coaches Association (EFCA) was made possible through the assistance of Eswatini’s Dingane Maduma, a leading football agent in the country, who facilitated the invitation. Furthermore, the event was generously sponsored by Embiveni Meats.

“I firmly believe that Eswatini has a rich history of producing talented footballers. The likes of Abel and William Shongwe, Scara Thindwa, Dennis Masina and Tony Tsabedze are testament to the abundance of talent in the country. However, it is essential that we invest in high-quality coaching programmes and stay adaptable to the changing landscape of football. It is through this ongoing investment and flexibility that we can ensure that the talent of Eswatini reaches its full potential, both now and in the future,” he said. Expanding on his previous remarks, Hunt highlighted the importance of exposing Eswatini’s players to international football. He stressed the significance of having Eswatini’s players plying their trade in leagues outside of the country.

“I firmly believe that Eswatini needs more players who have experienced football abroad, particularly in South Africa, to raise the level of the national team. By playing in higher leagues, these players gain a wealth of knowledge, experience and exposure that they can bring back to the national team. This benefits not only the players themselves, but also the team as a whole, as they can implement new strategies, skills and tactics that can help elevate Eswatini’s football to a higher level,” he said.
