MBABANE – A call for peace to prevail at the country’s stadiums has been made.

This transpired during the closing ceremony of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Safe Stadium Initiative Workshop at the Bethel Court, Ezulwini, yesterday. The workshop saw 40 participants from different football clubs in the country taking part in the course which took three days. The workshop initiative was organised by CAF representatives together with the Eswatini Football Association (EFA).  CAF Instructor and CAF head of Safety and Security Dr Christian Emeruwa conducted the course together with other three international instructors and experts.

Appreciated

Dr Emeruwa appreciated all the participants who took part in the course and further revealed that the EFA was the first among the 54 members of CAF to take part in such an initiative.
“I just want to thank all the participants for taking their time to join this workshop. The CAF Stadium Initiative is set up by CAF to support members of safety on how best they can ensure safety during football matches.  Members of the CAF Security are pleased that EFA is the first among the 54 members of CAF to take up this initiative,” Emeruwa, who stressed the need for safety at stadiums, said.

Knowledge

He also highlighted that it was not enough to be in class but to put into practice the knowledge gained. Meanwhile, the EFA Acting President Steve Horton appreciated Dr Emeruwa for meeting with all the stakeholders involved in safety and security. “As the association we want to thank CAF for the support. We will make sure that our matches are not only attractive in terms of display and competition, but also make the overall environment safe during matches. We would also like to applaud all the stakeholders for participating and making sure that the workshop is a success. We also thank the Sports Ministry for availing the Somhlolo National Stadium for a tour,” Horton said.Sihle Dlamini, on behalf of all the candidates who participated in this course, extended their appreciation to the EFA for the wonderful opportunity to be equipped by international experts.
