HOY, CHADD AIM TO PUT ESWATINI ON MAP
MBABANE – Swimmers Hayley Hoy and Chadd Ning have promised to hoist the country’s flag at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.
The duo will be debutants in the showpiece event, which will run from July 26 to August 11. Both athletes on Friday, promised to give their best performance in France, shortly after the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, Bongani Nzima, saw them off.Hoy was optimistic about her chances, noting that she was very close to meeting the qualification times. “I’m so excited to go to France and do my best towards making the country proud. I believe I will better my time and get closer to the Olympic qualifying time next time. I was so close to the qualification times, and I believe I will do my best in the pool,” Hoy said.

She will be the first to take to the pool, competing in the 100m female butterfly. Meanwhile, Ning will also be competing in the same category, but in the male division. “Being part of this team is such an honour, and representing the country has been my dream since I was young. I’m excited and I want to put Eswatini on the map,” Ning said.
Other athlete representing the country is the fastest man, Sibusiso ‘Swazi Bolt’ Matsenjwa.
