THE WALK WAS A HUGE SUCCESS – LIDWALA MD
MBABANE – “Today’s walk was a huge success.”
These were the words of Lidwala Insurance Managing Director (MD) Doctor Thokozani Nkambule after the first day of the 2024 Border-to-Border Health and Wellness Walk, dubbed Walk the 1st World Road with us. The day one walk started at Sicunusa Border Gate and finished at Mkhondvo, which is a 35 kilometres distance. Nkambule shared that they started the walk on a high pitch and the attendance was amazing as the saw diverse people participating from different ethnic backgrounds. “The event was spiced up by bikers, who volunteered as marshals. It was a safe event as no injuries or casualties were reported,” Nkambule said. The MD also said they had sufficient water points with variety of nutritious delicacies essential for hydration and energy boost. “Transport was available to assist those who got tired and couldn’t get to the end. It was a blissful start,” he said.
Walk
He said the walk was about bringing people together and encouraging physical fitness which enhances mental health. “As an Insurance company we offer medical aid to clients and we believe fostering initiatives of physical activity that stimulate emotional and mental health is beneficial to the nation,” he added. It is worth mentioning that the walk continues today and will start at Mkhondvo to Mahamba, which covers a distance of 20 kilometres.
