BUCKLE UP FOR BIGGER TOURNEY AS IT’S: E15M FOR INGWENYAMA CUP
MANZINI – Buckle up for a bigger Ingwenyama Cup.
A revised sponsorship of a whopping E15 million was announced by tournament Patron His Majesty King Mswati III at a packed Mavuso Exhibition and Trade Centre last night. The money will be spread over three seasons, starting from the upcoming 2024/25 campaign. This is an increase of E3 million as compared to previous editions. In last night’s festivities, outstanding individuals in both the football and culture categories ascended to the podium to claim their prizes in the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accidents Fund (SMVAF)-sponsored tournament.
Success
The King, in his address, highlighted that the tournament was a great success, announcing the re-launch of the tournament with renewed vigour and commitment. Prime Minister Russell Dlamini announced an urgent need to build a bigger stadium, saying options were being explored. Launched in the 2015/16 season, the tournament has assumed legendary status over the years. On top of being broadcast to millions across the globe on pay-per-view channel, SuperSport, the tournament now has an exciting E1.4 million prize money for the winners.
Champions
Green Mamba are not only the reigning champions, but have produced the outstanding player in Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa. In true Ingwenyama Cup style, last night’s gala dinner was punctuated with exciting culture performances, with gospel sensation Linda Dlamini also delivering a splendid performance.
