‘BHUBESI’ ‘MAULS’ SAKALA IN HARARE
MBABANE – Eswatini’s National Team player Nkosinathi ‘Bhubesi’ Sihlongonyane, roared back to victory in a major tournament in Zimbabwe.
This is after the pool star won a tight match against Maul Sakala, securing a score of 15-14. This was a tough tournament, because ‘Bhubesi’s opponent Sakala, was behind by one point, but fortunately enough, the lion of pool was capable of maintaining his current position of leading. The pool champion won against Blessing Muzarurwi last Tuesday, securing a score of 15-10 at their second match, which took place at Megga1 venue in Graniteside, Harare. This marked a crucial turnaround after his initial setback.
Challenging
On first day of the tour, ‘Bhubesi’ faced a challenging match against Pakanathi Jimi, where he suffered a 15-6 defeat. This loss meant he missed out on the US$500 prize, which is approximately E9 000. This tour has garnered significant attention locally, highlighting ‘Bhubesi’s efforts and the competitive spirit of Eswatini’s athletes in the region. ‘Bhubesi’ is on a five-day Zimbabwean Tour, organised by Step-up Entertainment and CuePixel Photography, where he will feature in a series of highly competitive matches with Zimbabwe’s elite pool players. He has one more match to play today with Eshca.
Sihlongonyane disclosed that he is still progressing well and hopes to shine in his final match. “This is both my goal and dream, basically to shine and catch everyone’s attention, so that pool can be a more recognised sport in the future, with a lot of people coming through to sponsor, especially for the future generation of young pool stars,” he said.
Signature
It is worth noting that Malkerns Pool club secured the signature of Sihlongonyane, who is the second-ranked pool player in the kingdom. The sensational pool star made a shocking move on the last day of registrations, leaving his former team; Way Inn Pool club on Sunday, June 23. Sihlongonyane is currently the most decorated player in the country. The Manager of ‘Bhubesi’, Bongani Mohammed, said this would be a great opportunity for the pool star and that he needed to take it with both hands to further his career and get a breakthrough in the industry, to secure himself a permanent job through his talent. “I would also like to say a positive outcome here will make him a trailblazer to all the other young players coming after him,” Mohammed said.
