M. SWALLOWS’ NSC APPEALS FOR CALM
MBABANE – The National Supporters Committee (NSC) of the capital city giants has called for calm within the ‘Birds’ nest.
The NSC voiced this appeal yesterday, during a press conference held by the team, to shed light on the ongoing issues. The NSC, through Treasurer Jabulani Dlamini, raised their concerns and frustration over the turn of events in the club. “We’re also shocked things turned out this way, because it seems there are two teams. Some don’t understand the issue of the Mbabane Swallows Football Club and that of the PTY/LTD. They ask questions about which team to support,” Dlamini said. The NSC stated that the infighting posed a threat to the arrangements made for the TotalEnergies Champions League games. Dlamini mentioned that there had been panic, even among those tentatively booked to transport fans for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) matches in two weeks’ time.
Preparations
He said travel logistics preparations were at an advanced stage for both the first and second legs of the preliminary round. Swallows will face Club Ferroviário de Beira, at Lucas Moripe Stadium on August 16, before travelling to Mozambique. Meanwhile, Swallows also thanked former President Bheki Lukhele, for standing with the club through thick and thin. During the press conference, Lukhele, was praised for offering them a clubhouse, purchasing a sprinter and assisting with finances, including salary payments, since 2019.
The Governor, Sandile ‘Beyond 2000’ Zwane, said Lukhele had stood by the club through tough economic times over the past seasons. He emphasised that the club was open to anyone who wished to join and assist financially, but must respect and follow the right channels. “The team is there, and I can say it was dented by what has been happening. It is preparing ahead of all its scheduled matches,” Zwane said.
