MARK HOARE APPOINTED INTO AFRICA AQUATICS COMMITTEE
MBABANE – In a significant appointment, Eswatini swimming official Mark Hoare has been selected to serve on the Africa Aquatics Technical Committee, for the 2024 to 2028 period.
The appointment of the acting vice president of the association was exclusively announced by the Eswatini Swimming Association (ESA) Secretary General, Nozipho Mahlalela, who has expressed her pride in the appointment of Hoare to the Africa Aquatics Technical Committee. In a statement released by Mahlalela, she highlighted Hoare’s exemplary work ethic and commitment to the sport.
“Mr Hoare’s appointment is a well-deserved recognition of his dedication and expertise in the field of swimming. We are thrilled to have a member of our association appointed to such a prestigious committee and look forward to his valuable contributions,” she said.Mahlalela underlined the importance and significance of Hoare’s appointment, describing it as an unprecedented milestone for Eswatini.

“Mark Hoare’s appointment to the Africa Aquatics Technical Committee is momentous, as he is the first Eswatini national to hold such a position in the committee. Hoare, upon receiving the news of his appointment to the committee for the period 2024 to 2028, expressed his excitement and gratitude. Hoare acknowledged that this appointment was not just a personal accomplishment, but a moment of pride for Eswatini.
“I am deeply honoured to be representing my country on such an important international platform. As a passionate advocate for the growth and development of swimming in Eswatini, I believe that this appointment will provide an opportunity for me to contribute to the advancement of the sport in our nation,” he shared. Meanwhile, Hoare was last year, alongside fellow ESA official, Meluleki ‘Sluga’ Simelane, appointed as a World Aquatics Technical Official for the period from 2022 to 2026. The appointments are testament to the pair’s expertise and commitment to the sport, and serve to highlight Eswatini’s potential on the international swimming stage.
