SUNDOWNS BACK AT MANZINI CLUB
MBABANE – Home is where the heart is!
The above adage holds true for relegated Denver Sundowns. They are reportedly back to their training base, the Manzini Club. An impeccable source close to the Musa Manyatsi-coached outfit revealed that the team returned to Manzini Club Sports Ground. The side used the venue before the switch to Qinisweni Primary School Sports Ground.
“The club since it started its pre-season programme has been using Manzini Club and as we speak they are there,” the source said. The source alleged that the Management Committee (MC) of the team felt that it was time they return to Manzini Club, where their identity is. “This will motivate the players as they begin their journey of taking the team back to the elite league next season,” the source added. Meanwhile, Ikappa Kappa Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Elvis Dube confirmed the latest development in the club.
“Yes it’s true that we are now back at Manzini Club as our training base since the start of the pre-season,” Dube said. Dube, however, was quick to highlight that they did not abandon the Qinisweni Primary School Sports Ground, as they would use both of them going forward. “We will use both as the Qinisweni Primary Sports Ground grass is currently being maintained,” he added.
Sundowns, according to the CEO, last used the Manzini Club Sports Ground in 2016, before moving to Matsapha, at Qinisweni Primary School. It is worth mentioning that Sundowns are currently involved in a relegation saga with rivals Manzini Wanderers, which has dragged on for almost two month.
