MBABANE – According to recent reports, the contract between Mandla ‘Umshana’ Palma and his team Ezulwini United, has ended.

The former Mbabane Highlanders stalwart defender signed a six-month deal with the ‘Stingers’ in the early part of the year, joining the team from his former club, Mbabane Highlanders.
This move was a significant step in Palma’s career, as he brought his considerable experience to a new team, hoping to make a significant contribution to their success. However, his tenure with the Mphumelelo Ngwenya-led side was relatively brief, as his six-month contract has now reached its conclusion.

It had previously been reported by this publication that the former Mbabane Swallows player, had joined Ezulwini United after resigning from his position with ‘Inkunzi Emnyama’, early in the year. According to recent reports from an impeccable source within the team, Palma’s contract with Ezulwini United was over, despite the player’s continued participation in training sessions with the team, as they prepared for the upcoming season. This development raises questions about the player’s future with the team, as his contract situation remains unclear.

Expired

“Indeed, Mandla Palma’s contract with the team has officially expired. While the team has not yet initiated any negotiations with the player regarding a potential renewal, his presence in training sessions indicates that there may be ongoing discussions regarding his future involvement with the team. The situation remains uncertain, and it will be interesting to see how the team handles this potentially pivotal moment in Palma’s career,” the source shared. Upon being approached by this publication for comment, the former Sihlangu player initially hesitated to discuss his contract situation with the team, preferring to remain silent on the matter. However, as this reporter persisted, he eventually disclosed that his contract with the team had expired.

“While I cannot delve into the specifics of my contract with Ezulwini United, I can confirm that it has, in fact, reached its conclusion. I’m not at liberty to discuss the details of the contract, nor the reasons for its expiration. However, I would like to emphasise that I remain committed to my performance on the field, and am open to exploring options for my future involvement with the team, should they arise,” he said briefly.

Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Ezulwini United, Guy Sambulo Magongo, confirmed that Palma’s contract with the team expired. “The finer details of Palma’s contract are set to be finalised on Monday, following the ongoing negotiations between the player and Ezulwini United. With the upcoming season rapidly approaching, the team is keen to resolve this matter swiftly and amicably,” he said. According to Magongo, this week is the final phase of the team’s assessment process for potential new players.
