ERU OFFICIALS FOR WORLD RUGBY COURSES

MBABANE – It is an exciting development for the country’s rugby.

The Eswatini Rugby Union (ERU) has shortlisted five individuals for international courses that will be taking place in Gaborone, Botswana.ERU President Bandile ‘Samba’ Vilakati mentioned that the union made arrangements to send a team of match officials and medics to participate in these important courses.

Course

Specifically, three match officials will be attending the World Rugby Officiating Level 1 Course. At least two medics will take part in the World Rugby First Aid in Rugby Level 1 Course. Additionally, the Union educator will be present to conduct the Tackle Ready acquaint course for educators. Vilakati further cited that the courses were scheduled to run from August 14 to 17 in Botswana. “As for the team’s departure, they will be leaving Eswatini today. The team is expected to return on August 18,” revealed Vilakati.Moreover, the ERU president said these courses represent a key capacity-building initiative by the union. He cited that they strive to enhance the standard of match officiating and player welfare in the game of rugby.

We acknowledge the support from the Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA), as we prepare for the journey ahead,” expressed Vilakati. He further highlighted that they were committed to doing their best and ensuring that they passed their modules and received accreditation in their respective portfolios.“We are confident that these courses will contribute significantly to the development of rugby in the region, equipping the participants with valuable knowledge and skills that will benefit the sport as a whole,” he said.
