MBABANE – “We can’t deny Pupu this chance.”

These were the words of Mbabane Highlanders Managing Director (MD) Chief Ally Kgomongwe, when reacting to the possible switch of midfield maestro Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze to Tabora United Football Club. The former Sihlangu crowd-puller left the country, this past Sunday, for an assessment by the Tanzanian side. Pupu’s departure was confirmed by the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA)-accredited Agent Alimasi Bin Saleh, famously known as Adebayor in football circles.

Impress

The South African businessman and politician said they were ready to release the player, should he impress the technical bench of Tabora United during his assessment. “Yes we are ready,” Kgomongwe briefly answered. He also highlighted that he was fully aware that the former Mbabane Swallows player was in Tanzania to try his luck with Tabora United. “Pupu is still our player and we are waiting for the team to contact us about him, but we can’t deny him the chance to play outside Eswatini,” he said. Meanwhile, Saleh said the player was supposed to put pen to paper yesterday after impressing on his three-day assessment. He revealed that he would give this reporter the details of the player’s contract details once he had signed. “He will sign today as I am here for it,” Saleh said.
