CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: OVER E40K PRIMO KIT FOR ‘BIRDS’
MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows might debut a new Primo kit in their TotalEnergies Champions League preliminary match against Mozambique’s Clube Ferroviário da Beira tonight.
The capital city giants departed, two days ago, on their journey to Pretoria, South Africa, with a team of 18 players in anticipation of their upcoming TotalEnergies Champions League preliminary match against the club from Mozambique. The team’s long-awaited return to Africa’s premier club competitions will see them play at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium, with the highly-anticipated match scheduled to kick off at 7pm tonight. According to sources close to Swallows, the team is said to have procured a brand new Primo kit, specifically for their CAF match against Clube Ferroviário da Beira.
“The procurement of this new Primo kit for Mbabane Swallows has been made possible with the invaluable assistance of former club President Bishop Lukhele and Eclipse Investments,” source said. The impeccable source further revealed that Mbabane Swallows’ Governor, Sandile ‘ Beyond 2000’ Zwane, representing the reigning 2023/24 MTN Premier League champions, journeyed to Durban to personally collect the three sets of Primo kits from the company’s high-ranking officials.
Assistance
“The club has procured a brand new Primo kit, which consists of three sets of jerseys in red, white and blue, and black jackets. This investment is valued at over E40 000, and has been made possible with the assistance of our former club President Bishop Lukhele and Eclipse Investments. “The significance of this kit cannot be overstated, as it is an important symbol of our ambition and determination to succeed in our return to African cup competitions,” shared the source.
Meanwhile, in confirmation of this development, Bobby Deutschmann, the Head of Team wear for Primo, affirmed to this publication that it was indeed true that Mbabane Swallows will be donning their new Primo kit tonight. “While it is indeed our intention to forge a technical partnership with Mbabane Swallows, the official agreement has not yet been finalised. At this stage, only a red and white set has been acquired for the team’s use,” he said. When quizzed about the possibility of the team wearing new Primo kits in their upcoming match, Swallows Public Relations Officer (PRO) Knowledge Ngwenya was careful not to confirm or deny the reports.
Possibility
Ngwenya, opting to maintain a diplomatic stance, suggested that while the acquisition of new kits may be unlikely, he could not definitively rule out the possibility. “I cannot provide a definitive answer regarding the team’s new kits for tomorrow’s (today’s) match,” Ngwenya said. Swallows join Nsingizini Hotspurs who recently unveiled a brand new kit for the upcoming season in collaboration with their technical sponsor, Primo. The latest kit, adorned with Primo’s signature branding, marks the continuation of a flourishing partnership that was initially established in the 2023/24 season with a three-year agreement set to expire in the 2025/26 campaign.
