MATSAPHA - SNAT, the host of the 2024 SATO Games, received another major boost yesterday, as Pick n Pay Lojaf sponsored the  international event with E100 000.

The 2024 Southern Africa Teachers Organisation (SATO) Games will be hosted by the Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT) in the Kingdom of Eswatini, from today.
The teachers’ union had highlighted that the budget for hosting the sports competitions was around E540 000 and that it was about E200 000 short of meeting its target. The sponsorship was announced by African Alliance Partner S’thofeni Ginindza yesterday at Matsapha Link, where Pick n Pay Lojaf and SNAT were launching a Smart Shopper (Loyalty) Card for educators who are members of the teachers union.

When announcing the sponsorship, Ginindza said as an organisation, they were aware that SNAT was hosting the 2024 SATO Games and since the country and world at large were from the COVID-19 pandemic, the teachers’ association might be facing cash flow challenges. Therefore, he said as Pick n Pay Lojaf, they would assist the teachers’ association with a sponsorship of E100 000.

Meanwhile, when receiving the sponsorship, SNAT Secretary General (SG) Lot Vilakati said as a union, they declared that Pick n Pay Lojaf was the main sponsor of the 2024 SATO Games. Therefore, he said they gave Pick n Pay all branding rights during the games. Vilakati said Pick n Pay Lojaf stood with them during hard times. He added that they had been looking for sponsorships, but in vain.

Visitors

The SNAT SG said they were expecting about 2 000 people from outside the country and as hosts, they needed to take care of them. Again, he said since their visitors would camp at Esibayeni Lodge and Kwaluseni, they would tell them to buy everything they need at Pick n Pay Lojaf. On that note, Ginindza said Pick n Pay Lojaf at Mashayitafula operates 24 hours, which means even at night and anytime in between their games and meetings, they could go to buy what they need.

The SNAT sg also added that Pick n Pay Lojaf was the only retail business, out of all those they support as teachers, that approached the union and asked what it could do for it.
In that regard, he said they would encourage their members to support the retail business as individuals, stokvels or when buying items for events like weddings and other ceremonies.
