BARKER, SIGION DECLARE WAR AHEAD OF CAF ENCOUNTER
MBABANE – Nsingizini Hotspurs and Stellenbosch have declared a fierce contest ahead of the CAF Confederations Cup.
The two teams are poised to clash at Moses Mabhida Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm this afternoon during the first preliminary round of the TotalEnergies CAF inter-club tournament. Both sides articulated their fervent intentions during a pre-match interview conducted at the stadium yesterday. Nsingizini’s Coach Alexio Sigion expressed optimism about securing a positive outcome. “We are fully aware that our opponents are a formidable side,” he acknowledged. “However, we will not back down; we are fully committed to fighting until the final whistle. We will leave no stone unturned to ensure we achieve a favourable result,” Sigion asserted.
Hotspurs’ Captain Pius Awuah also conveyed a resolute mindset heading into the match. “We have undertaken all necessary preparations for this encounter. While we respect Stellenbosch, we will not extend that respect once the match begins. We refuse to be mere doormats,” he declared. Stellenbosch’s Coach Steve Barker voiced confidence in their readiness for the challenge ahead. “We are eagerly anticipating the game. We have thoroughly prepared for this encounter,” he affirmed. He cautioned, however, that it would not be an easy affair, given that Nsingizini has displayed commendable form in their pre-season friendlies. We will strive to secure a positive outcome.
“Nsingizini have shown remarkable preparation, as evidenced by their performances against Richards Bay and other South African teams. They are a strong outfit, and we will not underestimate them,” Barker stressed. ‘Stellies’ Captain Sage Stephen expressed his enthusiasm, stating: “This marks our first venture into this competition. We are ready to confront our opponents head-on, and we shall give our all, hopeful for a positive outcome.”
