SATO GAMES PROMOTE UBUNTU – MINISTER OWEN

LOBAMBA – “The SATO Games promote unity.”

These were the words of the Minister of Education and Training Owen Nxumalo, who spoke passionately about the significance of the Southern Africa Teachers Organisation (SATO) Games. The minister Emphasised their importance in fostering not only sports and culture, but also embodying the spirit of sportsmanship, brotherhood and the deeply rooted African concept of Ubuntu.

According to Nxumalo, the games presented a unique opportunity for teachers from diverse backgrounds to come together, build bonds of friendship and celebrate their shared love for sports and culture, while also learning from each other and promoting unity and mutual understanding. The minister said this words during the official openning of the annual Southern Africa Teachers Organisation (SATO) Games 2024, that was held at the Somhlolo National Stadium on Friday. “This annual gathering is not just a sporting event; it is a powerful platform for strengthening the bonds of friendship and collaboration among education workers across our nations.

“The SATO Games promote not only sports and culture, but also the invaluable spirit of sportsmanship, brotherhood and Ubuntu that we hold dearly as Africans. As we compete in various events over the coming days, let us remember that the true essence of these games lies in the relationships we build and the understanding we foster among each other,” he said.
Nxumalo went on take a moment to extend his heartfelt congratulations to the country through Swaziland national Association of teachers (SNAT) for hosting the SATO games. 

“As we gather here, let us also acknowledge the pivotal role that teachers play in the integration aspirations of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) community.
“You are the backbone of our education systems, shaping the minds and futures of our children. Your commitment to quality and transformative education is paramount in achieving our shared goals of unity and progress. Thank you for your unwavering dedication to the noble profession of teaching,” the minister said.
