MBABANE – Former Mbabane Highlanders midfielder Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze is said to have landed a lucrative deal with his new Tanzanian club.
He will reportedly earn up to E50 000 per month. This publication had earlier revealed that the former Sihlangu midfielder had agreed to a two-year deal with Tanzanian club Tabora United. This was confirmed by his agent, Alimasi Bin ‘Adebayor’ Saleh, who also revealed that the player departed Eswatini for Tanzania over a week ago, seeking to complete an assessment with his new team. The player impressed the Tanzanian outfit technical bench in his three-day assessment and was offered a two-year deal.

Impeccable sources have shared with this publication that the former Mbabane Swallows midfielder, has recently clinched a lucrative two-year contract with the prestigious Tanzanian club. As part of this agreement, Sikhondze is set to receive E50 000 per month, a figure that would place him among the highest-paid footballers in the country. “The footballing career of Banele Sikhondze continues to reach new heights, as the talented midfielder has signed a two-year deal with Tabora United, earning an impressive monthly salary of E50 000 and a signing-on fee of E100 000 per season. This level of remuneration is unprecedented in Eswatini football, and demonstrates the value in which Pupu is held by his new Tanzanian club,’’ shared the source.
The publication approached the midfielder yesterday, seeking comment on his salary package. While he declined to disclose the specifics of his earnings, he stated that he was pleased with the salary and felt a responsibility to repay the club’s confidence in him. “The Premier League season is officially underway today, with our team set to take on Simba, one of the biggest clubs in the region. Our collective goal is to surpass our performance from last season and secure a higher position in the league standings. On a personal level, I’m eagerly anticipating a successful season ahead and will give my utmost effort to help the team achieve its objectives ,” he said.
Within the domestic football scene in Eswatini, Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa reigns supreme as the highest-paid player in the elite MTN Premier League. Known for his lethal finishing and clinical attacking ability , ‘ Sikhali’s value as a player is reflected in his impressive salary, which places him at the top of the pay scale for local footballers. According to impeccable sources, the former Mbabane Highlanders striker earns a monthly salary of E20 000, which is E3 000 more than the E17 000 a month he was getting at Highlanders. Meanwhile, in the context of the Eswatini international players, ‘Pupu’s lucrative contract with Tabora United has moved him into the second-highest earning position for international players from the country. His salary of E50 000 per month places him alongside Lindo Mkhonta, who earns the same amount while playing for Zambian powerhouse ZESCO.
