In an interview with this publication, ‘Ras Fela’ revealed that the imminent national referees and judges course would be led by a renowned South African expert, who was identified as Jansen Willem. Dlamini conveyed his delight at this news, noting that Willem’s experience and expertise would provide an invaluable resource to those attending the course, fostering a high level of knowledge and understanding among Eswatini’s officiating professionals.
Respected
“As an association, we are thrilled to announce that 20 participants will embark on a four-day referees and judges course, led by the respected Jansen Willem, from Wednesday to Saturday. “This intensive training programme will provide our officiating professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to ensure the fairness and integrity of boxing matches in Eswatini, thereby enhancing the overall quality of our competitions,” he said. The secretary general of EBA has stated that the organisation is thrilled to offer this valuable training course to referees across the country.
“The association is ecstatic about our association’s recent efforts to develop and train a cadre of skilled referees. “For too long, our lack of qualified officials has been an obstacle to the growth and success of boxing in our country, but with the launch of this training course, we are confident that we can create a pool of qualified referees who will help to ensure the integrity and enjoyment of matches in the future.
Gratitude
“I would also like to extend my deepest gratitude to the Eswatini Sports and Recreation Council for their invaluable support and collaboration in bringing this course to fruition,” he said.
Meanwhile, after a period of eager anticipation, the boxing association is set to kick off its national championships, this weekend. Boxers representing the various EBA affiliates have been undergoing intense training in preparation for the flagship event.
