MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows Governor Sandile ‘Beyond 2000’ Zwane has joined the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) leadership.

Zwane has been co-opted into the PLE Executive Committee alongside National First Division side Lozitha Spurs Director Melusi Dlamini. The new PLE Executive Committee is led by Ezulwini United President Polycarp Dlamini. After an intense electoral process during the PLE Ordinary General Assembly (OGA) at Sigwaca House a fortnight ago, Polycarp emerged triumphant , receiving 23 out of 27 votes to claim the title of PLE Chairman. The elections were facilitated by the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Ethics Committee, led by Magistrate Siphosini Dlamini. For being chairman, Polycarp outclassed Rangers Board of Governors Trustee Sibusiso ‘Scorpion’ Nxumalo, who managed only four votes. Milling Hot Spurs did not vote, as they were absent.

Meanwhile, former Tambankulu Callies (now Red Rhinos) boss Sithembiso ‘Ngudze’ Mamba won the vice chairman position. Following the highly-competitive elections, the PLE welcomed three new members for the hot seat. They included the returning Sicelo Mkhonta from Manzini Sea Birds, Bongani ‘Bhanyaza’ Mdluli from Manzini Wanderers. Rangers Board of Governors Trustee ‘Scorpion’ remained on board.

Accurate

There were two vacant seats after the elections and they were to be filled through co-opting, as per the constitution. Meanwhile, according to an impeccable source, the PLE has since decided Zwane and Melusi will join the PLE Executive Committee as additional members. “It is indeed accurate that the Premier League of Eswatini has appointed Sandile Zwane and Melusi Dlamini as the newest members of its Executive Committee. This significant development marks a key milestone in the ongoing evolution of the PLE, as these experienced and well-respected individuals bring their unique skill sets and perspectives to the table, bolstering the organisation’s leadership and strategic direction in the pursuit of excellence in the country,” the source said. Meanwhile, the Premier League of Eswatini interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Pat Vilakati could not be drawn for comment at the time of compiling this report last night.
