‘PUPU’ SET FOR TABORA DEBUT ON SUNDAY
MBABANE – Former Mbabane Highlanders midfield maestro Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze is set to make his debut in Tanzania on Sunday.
This was confirmed by his agent, Alimasi Bin ‘Adebayor’ Saleh. The latter disclosed that the former Mbabane Swallows player is now eligible to play after his work permit was sorted out on Tuesday. The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA)-accredited agent recently reported that Sikhondze had signed a two-year contract with Tanzanian outfit Tabora United on the deadline of the first registration window period.
Eligible
“Pupu is now eligible to play after his work permit was issued. We are expecting that he makes his debut for his new team on Sunday, when they face Namungo City,” Saleh said.
The erstwhile former Betway Premiership side Polokwane City player left the country, about two weeks ago, for a three-day assessment in Tanzania’s Tabora with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)-born agent.
Sikhondze immediately made an impact, as he impressed the technical team and was offered a mouth-watering contract, which would see him earning E50 000 monthly for two seasons.
Saleh disclosed that his decision to take Pupu to Tanzania was due to the fact that he was too comfortable playing in the country, yet he had the potential to achieve more in the sport.
Comment
Meanwhile, no comment could be reached from Pupu through Whatsapp to get his reactions on the prospect of making his debut on Sunday.
His former teammate at Umkhonto KaShaka Kingu Pemba said he was happy to reunite with Sikhondze at Tabora United.
“This is a nice feeling to play with Pupu again,” Pemba briefly said.
