WE’RE READY FOR CLUBE FERROVIÁRIO - KINGSLEY
MBABANE - “We won’t let the supporters down.”
These were the bold words of Mbabane Swallows Ghana-born strong defender Kingsley Kwayki ahead of the team’s TotalEnergies CAF Champions league return match against Clube Ferroviário da Beira on Sunday. The ‘Beautiful Birds’, who are back in Africa’s premier club competition for the first time in six years, brushed aside Mozambique champions Ferroviario with a 1-0 win before over 100 home fans.
A lone second-half header by Karim Madja proved to be a difference in the feisty Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League preliminary round first leg clash played at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria, last Friday.“We have toiled hard in preparation, knowing that this game holds immense significance for us as a team. “As players, we recognise the gravity of the match and we vow to give our all on the field. “Our supporters deserve nothing less, and we shall strive to honour their faith in us by delivering an outstanding performance,” he said.As the Caleb ‘No Nonsense’ Ngwenya-led team are on the brink of qualifying to the next round, Kwayki issued a stirring call to the team’s supporters.
Rally
“We appeal to the Swallows supporters to rally behind us in overwhelming numbers, as they have done in the past. “Your presence will inspire us to greater heights, and we vow to repay your unwavering support with a decisive victory. Together, we will ascend to the next round and bring glory to our team and nation,” Kingsley said. Meanwhile, following their impressive performance in the first leg, Swallows carry a valuable lead into the second leg of their match-up against Ferroviario on Sunday. The return fixture will be held at the Lalgy Arena in Matola, Mozambique. Swallows need a draw to advance. The winner of the game will face South Africa’s Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
