IT’S NOT OVER YET - NSINGIZINI’S PIUS
MBABANE – Nsingizini Hotspurs Captain, Pius Baffour, believes they will reverse the 3-0 first-leg defeat by Stellenbosch and advance to the next round.
Baffour shared this sentiment yesterday morning during the team departure ceremony held at the Sigwaca House. They will face ‘Stellies’ today at 3pm at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, in the return leg of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup. “What I can say is that it’s not over until it’s over. Everybody is ready to fight for the team and win so we can eventually qualify for the next stage,” Pius said.
Winner
Angolan side AS Vita awaits the winner of the first preliminary round in the second phase. His coach, Alexio Sigion, also echoed his captain’s remarks. The Zimbabwean born mentor said they would give their best to overcome the result. “We’ll play two halves. They played theirs and won, and we are going to play ours tomorrow (today). We’re very focused and grateful for the support we have received so far. We can’t do it on our own but need the whole support of the country,” the coach said. Meanwhile, Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Frederick Mngomezulu expressed confidence that they could turn tables around. Mngomezulu said Eswatini clubs had a good history of playing against neighbouring opponents.
History
“We have a very good history and there is an instance where our team (Royal Leopard against Bidvest Wits University) lost 3-0 in the first leg. We eventually won with the same score in the second leg and sealed our victory in the penalty shootouts. Thus, we’re very confident that you can, as well do so and move to the next round,” he said. The Shiselweni-based side flew to Durban from King Mswati III International.
